WORDLESS WEDNESDAY WESTIE PICTURE OF THE WEEK

Don't Worry BE HAPPY! :0)

Today was the big day, My husband drove my mother-in-law to the airport for her trip. This for most people would not seem signifigant EXCEPT this is her first time flying and she has two layovers and a flight across the ocean (she is flying from the midwest to Hawaii) my hubby said she was a bundle of nerves and he was surprised she got on the plane however that was not what I was worried about ( I knew she would do fine she is a smart lady)  What I was concerned about was Duncan......

There is no piece of paper or magazine, paperback book or trash can  that this pup can resist and today not only was he at home alone longer than normal but he was also taken out of his normal pattern of coming with dad to take me to work and see me off and then spending the morning with dad  before he leaves for work. Instead he had the apartment ALL to himself. I was in fear of what I would find when I got home but suprisingly there was not mass destruction!  Either I am getting better and keeping temptation away or he is just a good pup and behaved himself today. I was SHOCKED!   :0)

The Sunday routine....

Soooo..... I am a bit of a homebody ( I know, no one stand up to protest all at once lol!)
I have noticed lately that my darling husband and I and Duncan have a little routine on sundays (every other day is random but oh no not sundays) On sundays My hubby goes to work and Duncan and I lazily sleep a little while longer then get up and I clean the apartment (oh joy of joys) and/or take the dog for a walk among other homebody things. When he gets home we cook together and settle in for a nice evening at home. We all curl up on the couch and watch tv or a movie.  I never realized it before but it is the same EVERY sunday. I know this might sound really boring but I love it that I have a couple cuddle bugs to snuggle up with and relax! There is no stress or pressure or craziness, just peaceful wonderful bliss!

Silly Sundays and Random stuff.

Every Sunday I am going to post something silly/random that I and/or Duncan have been up to lately or something we find funny.

Here is the latest:

I just finished reading this book. It is a book that tries to tackle the mentality of dogs and single men.
(And that is a challenge considering the author is neither)
This is a book to read if you wonder what dogs are thinking. The Main characters are Gil (a divorced construction/handyman) and his 4 dogs Jimmy,Cheney,Dinks, and Fruity. Gil seems to relate more to his dogs than other people in his life and each one of the dogs has a different personality which fits well with the different personalities we all see in our dogs,  There is the confidant dog that has had the same home his/her entire life, the rescue dog that has overwhelming fears of being abandoned, and there are the rescue dog that take a LONG time to learn the difference between peeing inside and outside lol!  Either way this book is a quick read that I truly enjoyed!

This is what Duncan was doing while I read. zzzzz.......
So since Obviously I have been a boring human lately, Today we went for a walk and he seems much more excited about that then some stinky ole' book!

It was a little bit hot but we enjoyed it a lot!  Duncan get so excited that he doesn't know what to sniff first!

The More Things Change......

Today I have been thinking a lot about the little things in life. I've heard the quote before,  "The More things change the more they stay the same"   This can be true. Life can change suddenly at times but more often then not, change occurs gradually.  We never really notice the small changes that happen everyday. Small changes in our attitude, in our daily life, in our relationships are often hard to notice but when you look back they are glaringly obvious! Here are five things in my life that don't feel any different day to day but if I sit back and think about it have changed drastically.

1) My relationship with my husband - He and I have been married for 4 years ( I know we have a long road ahead!) and we are still for the most part the same two goofy moonstruck college kids who fell in love and we both seem like the same people. But if I force myself to think about it, our relationship has evolved and changed greatly from when we first met. We started out as casual friends which evolved into shy looks and smiles which evolved into dating which evolved into marriage and since getting married we have learned a lot about each-other, a lot we like and a little we don't. We know more now how to get under each-others skin/push each-others buttons if we disagree. However we also know more about what makes each-other happy and how to live life together.

2) My Friendships - I am lucky to have friends that I have known  from preschool ( or even younger) and when we get together we still seem like the same girls we always were. Despite distance we can pick up a conversation like we saw one another yesterday.  Again I would say that not a lot has changed. We still have the same quirks, same memories to fall back on, and the same mindset we always did  However when you look at the big picture we have all changed IMMENSLY!!!  we have moved away from our sleepy little hometown and branched out in our own ways.  Different colleges, different jobs, different new friends, different lives. We are definately NOT the same girls we were back in the day!

3) Duncan - We have had Duncan in our lives for a year now and he just seems like a permanent part of the fabric of our lives. He seems the same everyday, a constant sweet and funny presence in our lives. I don't really notice how much he has changed physically and mentally since coming home to live with us. HOWEVER if I think about the shy sweet little 6 month old pup I brought home from the humane society and the confidant crazy cool dog he is today the difference is noticeable!  The proof is in the pictures:

The above pics are Duncan when we first got him as a 5-6 month old small and shy

These are him now, bigger, healthier, and more mischievous!

4) My Family  no major shake ups here, my parents still live in the house I grew up in, I still can go home and see my parents and my grandparents but if I look closely things are different. The statement is true " you can never go home again"  My room is no longer my room, when I come home now, most of the time I bring my husband, and my parents have a dog that I have not lived in the same home with. In short everythings the same but everythings different at the same time.

5) My idea of what my life would be like - I don't feel like I have changed in my heart and still have the same ideas about life, the same love of a good book and I still love my family and my pets fiercly. I still feel like the same person I always was but somehow when I look back, I am not doing what I thought I would be doing  and my idea of who I would be has changed quite a bit.

What are some of the changes that sneak up on YOU?

This is the start of a wild ride. The start of daily writing!  It will be a challenge but I am sure with a silly husband, close knit family, good friends, and a cool crazy pup like Duncan (the cool dude in the picture above)  I will have no shortage of material!  I would love to write more but at the moment my little fur face needs to go out for a walk :0)
